Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of Wagner Group, was given a private funeral near his hometown of St. Petersburg, Russia, following his death in a plane crash, as per statements from his press service.
The press service confirmed that Prigozhin was laid to rest in a private ceremony a week post his demise. The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, was conspicuously absent from the funeral services as per Kremlin.
In addition to Prigozhin, memorial services were also conducted for other Wagner Group leaders who, according to the Kremlin, perished in the same plane crash the previous Wednesday. These include Valery Chekalov, who served as the senior deputy to Wagner’s head of logistics.
