Luhut Binsar made a comment regarding the prospect of him succeeding Airlangga as chairman of Golkar.

Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, publicly expressed his mind for Airlangga Hartarto’s replacement as General Chair of the Golkar Party.

Luhut declared that he will continue to observe the issue. He said that he didn’t really like it.

“Let’s see. I don’t really care about that,” Luhut said on Monday (24/7), at the Danareksa Tower in Jakarta.

On his chances of becoming Golkar’s chairman, Luhut made no additional remarks. He promised to watch the Golkar Party’s procedure in action.

He replied, “Yeah, we’ll see”.

The Golkar Party was in turmoil. Before the presidential election of 2024, Airlangga Hartarto’s authority was weakened. Another name, Bambang Soesatyo, was mentioned with Luhut when he was up for general chairman during a national meeting.

This all began with the Golkar Party Expert Council’s decision to assess Airlangga’s leadership being revealed. Despite the fact that Airlangga is already a presidential contender from Golkar, one of the factors is his low electability.

The question of replacing the general chairman of Golkar was addressed by Airlangga in the past. Golkar is still solid, he emphasized.

A national congress in 2024 will be the only way to change the general chairperson, he added.
