Reuters reported on September 13 that Mexican lawmakers attended the country’s first congressional meeting on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), or UFOs, where they were told “we are not alone” in the universe. Journalist and UFO enthusiast Jaime Maussan presented two artifacts he claimed were the bodies of extraterrestrials during the extraordinary hearing.
Maussan claimed that two tiny “bodies” with three fingers on each hand and elongated heads were found near the ancient Nazca Lines in Peru in 2017. These specimens, not related to any life on Earth, were carbon dated to be about 1,000 years old by Mexico’s National Autonomous University (UNAM). Past discoveries of this nature have been identified as the remains of mummified children.
Jose de Jesus Zalce Benitez, the Director of the Scientific Institute for Health of the Mexican navy, confirmed that bodies analysed via X-rays, 3-D reconstruction, and DNA testing are not human. The findings were reiterated by UNAM in a 2017 statement, stating their National Laboratory of Mass Spectrometry with Accelerators (LEMA) only aimed to determine the age of the samples.
Maussan, a prominent UFO researcher, was joined by a former U.S. Navy pilot at a hearing in Mexico’s Congress’ lower Chamber of Deputies. Ryan Graves, executive director of Americans for Safe Aerospace, stated that the group was founded to address the need for action.
Graves and former military intelligence officer David Grusch have emphasized the urgent need for improved public education about UAPs for aerospace safety and scientific inquiry. They aim to break stigma and improve transparency and disclosure.
