The Anti-terror Special Detachment, better known as Densus 88, has taken into custody an employee from PT. KAI, known only as DE, on suspicions of his involvement within the ISIS group’s terrorist net. The apprehension took place during a raid conducted in Pesona Anggrek Harapan Housing, RT 7/RW 27, in the North Bekasi District of Bekasi City.
Ichwanul Muslimin, the local neighborhood leader, participated with the police in their search of DE’s residence. Reportedly, various disassembled weapons were uncovered within the house. Muslimin explained, “I saw the weapons, but all of them have been dismantled. The weapons were scattered around – in the front room, the middle room, the kitchen, and some were in the cupboard. However, I observed that all the bullets had been removed.”
He further noted the presence of what seemed to be air soft guns and apparel similar to paintball gear. “They were in the living room cupboard,” he added. This statement was made on Monday, the 14th of August, 2023 in Bekasi.
Ichwanul revealed that the police seized not only weapons, but also flags typically used by ISIS and several religious literacy textbooks. They also took custody of paintball gear used for practice. While Ichwanul admitted his uncertainty about the suspect’s potential connection to a terrorist organization, he noted that the final verdict is pending a police report.
“We’re uncertain as of now. However, we have obtained evidence such as ammunition and various other items,” he stated.
As reported by local media, Kompas, the National Police’s Densus 88 Anti-terror team apprehended a suspected terrorist in Bekasi City earlier today.
“Indeed, we have taken custody of a terror suspect,” confirmed the National Police’s Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, speaking to the press in Jakarta on Monday. While full details of the arrest remain undisclosed, Ramadhan confirmed that the special detachment, symbolized by the owl, has apprehended one suspected terrorist.
Raden Agus Dwinanto Budiadji, the Corporate Secretary of PT. KAI, made a statement following the arrest of a PT. KAI employee, DE, by the Densus 88 Anti-terror Police on suspicion of terrorism.
Budiadji indicated that PT. KAI was unaware of any potential involvement by a company employee in illicit activities linked to terrorism. He assured, however, that the company would respect the ongoing judicial process and pledged readiness to cooperate fully if required.
“In relation to this issue, we are prepared to assist the authorities as needed,” Budiadji stated this Monday (14/8/2023) in Jakarta.
He emphasized that PT. KAI would not condone any actions violating the law—particularly those relating to terrorism. Any employee found guilty of involvement in terrorism would face severe consequences.
“PT. KAI remains committed to combating internal instances of terrorism,” Budiadji stated. “We continue to promote integrity and nationalism at all levels within our company, as well as enhancing supervisory measures by relevant parties.”
